I am looking to add a rain head to my shower. I am looking to do this without adding a soffit in the shower as I am trying to keep the ceiling even throughout. I am looking to do this without adding a soffit in the attic as well to keep the cold out due to costs. Is there any device out there that pushes the water out of the pipe to a drain so that the water does not sit in the pipe in the attic or any other solutions for this? I also do not want an exposed pipe in the shower. I am in a cold environment.

There are many styles of attractive exposed chrome shower fixtures, why not consider installing one? It would solve all your concerns about frozen pipes and having to add a soffit.

Depending on your valve(s) - diverter situation, you could add a toe tester in the shower and slope the pipe in the attic back toward the valve.
