how to remove the handle with no screw on a 1980's american standard single handle kitchen faucet?
Author: dfrese (IL)

I am not able to remove the handle that does not have any screw or cap on a 1980's (24year old) American standard single handle kitchen faucet. The handle is very loose and the faucet leaks from under the handle and can only be turned off by turning it all the way to the hot side. I have looked for a screw on the handle but cannot find one. Please advise me as to how I can remove the handle and repair the leaking faucet without replacing the entire faucet. I will take some photos and post them in my next post.

Does the handle have a plastic or metal logo emblem? Sometimes you have to remove that to find the setscrew underneath.

Sometimes there's a little red / blue plug that must be removed to access a set screw.

This is how Delta often does it, look for something similar on your AS faucet. That red-blue plastic emblem pulls off and the setscrew is behind it. Don't forget to look on the back, they sometimes put the setscrew back there, and it may be covered with a removable plug. Post a photo of the faucet handle if you aren't able to get it off.

The handle unscrews and comes out. At base of hole is screw!
No plugs or hidden screw.
