Do you have copper piping in your home, also a water softener? Is the blue color also happening in other places like white sinks or toilet?

You can check the pH of the water, neutral ph is about 7.0, see if your water is less than 6.5 or so. Many county health dept (and sometimes the city water dept) will test a water sample for you for free, just take them a cup of it in a clean container. Water with a pH much less than 7.0 is considered "acidic" and it can remove trace amounts of copper from your pipes and cause the blue stains. The water isn't harmful to drink, in fact some people believe copper is good for your health.

Water companies like Culligan's will also test your water for free, but they will also do some arm-twisting on you to buy their water on a monthly basis. Also, swimming pool stores will test your water if they think you have a pool.

A couple of good writings about the problem:

Is it a steel tub? Are you using scrub pads? We had some defective ones come in that were blue-ing one time. It was the finish.

Did you check the pH of your water?

If you have acidic water and copper piping then bluing often occurs on white finish fixtures.

could this possible be a water softner problem , because this is other small things going on .. when washing clothes in hot or warm water they come out rough and scrtachy . on cold water soft and fine . also dishes in dishwasher are not getting clean and have water left on them when done .... I thought I read somewhere someone might have said something about the water softner . when the shower stream is running where it hits the tub is the only blue spot. thanks also both toliet are getting black grit in them..
