How to remove American Standard cartridge?
Author: swingking03 (FL)

The flow in my kitchen faucet has crawled to less than 1/2 gpm. The pressure at the valve under the sink it normal. And its not the aerator as the flow is still low without the handle. The dome shaped piece seems to be attached, blocking the green piece from pulling out. I can't find a model number for this American Standard faucet to look for technical docs.

I also stopped getting water to my fridge but removing the filter in the fridge fixed that. Also, last weekend, I removed and cleaned the aerators in the bathroom sinks, and all had sediment in them. I'm guessing sentiment is also clogging the kitchen faucet and clogged the water filter in the fridge.

The dome piece either threads off or will pry up and off. Try unthreading first. If that doesn't get you anywhere, try prying.

Pry it up ....it will take some doing but that whole spout will pop right up.

Remove the Aerator on the pull out spout and replace it.

It took a lot of prying but I finally got it off. I damaged it quite a bit but it is mostly hidden by the handle. It did have threads and screws on and off easily now. Unfortunately, cleaning the cartridge did not help water flow. I'm not sure what it could be now.
