Need help with sink pop up pivot nut size
Author: Rick2161 (FL)

Hi all....I need to replace my bathroom sink stopper ball and rod, and the pop up pivot nut broke. I went to the hardware store and they did not sell the nut separately so I bought a new sink pipe that had the nut. Unfortunately, the nut is too small, and all the other kits they sell have this smaller pivot nut. I saw online that others have had this same situation, but did not find a way to get the correct part. I would greatly appreciate it if someone would let me know how to get this larger size pop up pivot nut that will fit (name, size, link would be appreciated). Thank you in advance!

it's no that simple.. if you do manage to find the correct nut size, the taper in the middle of the nut has to be the same or it will leak or not even stay in position. not to mention that some nuts have no taper but are supplied with a plastic washer that is flat on one side and tapered on the other.
have i convinced you to take a hacksaw, cut the nut up against the bottom of the sink and remove the whole assembly and replace it.

It's all proprietary. Install a new pop-up assembly.

Right, just replace the entire pop up assembly. You can buy an assembly for probably less money that you would spend on a nut + shipping if you have to order it online.

Hi thanks for your reply and that is my intention but it seems that the kits have a pivot nut that is smaller than mine. I was wondering if someone knows the correct size of the larger nut or brand name so that I can get the correct kit.. Thanks

There is NO standard. Every brand, and even model, can have it own dimensions, so without a name there is no way to answer the question.
