 Leaks under the walls.
Author: Bugs Bunny's Baby (LA)

A few years ago my sister had someone install a fiberglass tub over the metal tub in my mother's house. Now there is a leak from the bathroom that is running under the walls into the hallway. We cannot locate where the leak originates. We have had several people come in to try and find exactly where the leak comes from and the closest we've come to an answer is that the tub was improperly installed. The guy replaced the part (sorry, cannot remember the name of the part) he said was ill-fitting and the leak did stop; but only for one day. Estimates to locate and fix the problem range from $8000 to $12,000, amounts we cannot afford. So now I get to my question: Does anyone here know how I can locate and plugged this leak without having to take out a mortgage on the house? smile

Time for some demo. Gotta knock open some walls or the ceiling below and find the leak. Can't fix it unless you know what's wrong...

For that price, I will close shop here and fix it for you before the weekend.

I agree....You need to open up some wall or ceiling area to find the leak. However...I disagree with knocking open those areas. A better description would be a neat, precision, exploration. That approach makes for much easier repairs.
