help replacing a strange faucet in Israel
Author: CassandraReborn (MA)

I'm moving to Israel (I planned this before the election!), and the bathroom faucet in my apartment looks unlike any I've seen in the US. I've attached a photo below. I need faucet handles that I can control with my elbows. Is there a way that I can remove the knobs and install lever faucet handles? If not, how difficult would it be to replace the faucet? There are not shutoff valves below, so I'm very confused.

Is anyone here familiar with Israeli plumbing?

I'd appreciate any advice you may have. thanks smiling smiley

If there are lever handles that would fit it, you would also have to replace the hot stem otherwise it will work backwards from the proper way.

I feel sure that you can mount lever handles on that faucet. You will probably need to get a " fit all " kit that will allow the levers to be secured with set screws.

Lever handles, may not do the job you wish. Levers would place a greater strain on the stems, if anyone cranks hard on them. As suggested you would have the swap out the existing stems for opposite directions. You will lose out on being able to fine control of water temps.

Good Luck with your endeavor.
