 Best pro-quality pex cinch tool?
Author: Studly (MN)

For those plumbers and contractors that use pex cinch tools, what is the best one? In reviews, it seems none get high ratings and many, like the one-hand racheting one, seem to be the same tool, just rebranded to say Apollo, Watts, etc.

Any recommendations on a pro-quality cinch tool that will last for years and not require calibration very often? (I'm referring to the ones that only work with the stainless steel Oetiker-style cinch clamps, not the crimp rings.)

Every Plumber I know uses Uponor Pex A....crimping is for home owners in my eyes.

Wow, looks like you plumbers have to spend some serious money for your tools and supplies to install the Wirsbo and Viega pex systems. I'm sure it's worth it, though, when you're using it everyday.

I should probably broaden my question then to include non-plumbers: anyone use a cinch tool a lot, and if so, what's the best one that is durable, stays calibrated and can fit in relatively tight spots?

Yeah, they sure do spend some dough on those tools.

I saw some video the other day of a plumber using a tool for crimping copper fittings. I thought hmm, neat. Until I saw the price of the crimped. $1800 bucks.

I have this tool on the truck with rings for just in case.

But I use Uponer pro pex and installed Viega in the past.
