 Pressure Problems
Author: mbgamms (MD)

Two weeks ago we had a water pressure booster installed on the house. We are in a new-build development but last stop on city water so pressure was low at 32. We thought everything was fine until we went to take a shower in the master bath. Cold water came on with the new pressure (55-60) but when we switched it to hot, it was nothing more than a drizzle, worse than before the booster. I understand sometimes the pressure balance unit can get blown when you cut the main, so I replaced that and the 47mm cartridge in front of it. BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXITS. I read somewhere about popping open the pressure balance unit and removing the small O rings but that did nothing either. I have also eliminated the shower head as the source of the decreased pressure. This is the only place in my house with an issue after the installation. I am at a loss and refuse to call the people back who installed the booster because they were horrible!! Looking forward to suggestions....Thanks in advance

You may have a pressure balance faucet with a "locked up" balancing spool.

Is this different than the the pressure balance unit I already replaced? I replaced that and the 47 mm cartridge in front of it. I have essentially replaced everything from the rough plumbing out.
