Hello,
I have a question about the Waste and Overflow. In the current setup of the new tub install the P-trap was installed under the main drain of the tub and not under the overflow pipe side. I see there are half kits in which the drain is actually a sanitary tee. The next question is if I could run then the overflow pipe off-center from the drain since I have a Joist with already a 2 inch hole and I can't drill 2 inches close to that hole.
Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

the only reason the overflow pipe needs to be straight down (vertical) is because there is a linkage that attaches to a built-in stopper. if you use a different type that has a tip toe cover in the drain itself(no linkage), then the overflow can be any direction you want. you can roll it over at a 45 if you want.

I see, Thanks so much for the reply... I plan to use the toe operated ones without any linkage, so in this case I can route the overflow pipe in any way from the sanitary Tee under it.
The issue that I see if I use the standard setup with the drain under the over flow is that I would have to put the p-trap under the overflow pipe, but then I need to run about 30 inches horizontally to where the drain at the point is vented which will create issues with the water seal. I can't put the p-trap closer to the main drain at the wye because then I will need to run an horizontal from the overflow drain to the p-trap making it an effective running -ptrap which will not pass inspection.
Thanks again!!
