I am considering a half bath in the basement in the future.
I will have to install a up flush toilet (maybe saniflo) since sewage pipe is higher than basement floor.
My question is venting. I have no access to the main vent pipes. I would have to install my own vent pipe. The vent pipe would have to run up the bathroom wall, then horizontally along the floor joists (basement ceiling) about 17 feet, through the outside wall, them up the side of the outside wall before clearing the roof line.
Is this an acceptable way of venting?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, as long as the pipe is sloped upward along it's entire length.

I'm glad I saw this. I just logged on to ask the same question about a laundry pump.
This is one of the most useful sites on the 'net.
