Rotten egg smell when dishwasher turns on
Author: Kalisungrl18 (CA)

Hi
I need help figuring out how to fix this. The last few months when our dishwasher turns on a rotten egg smell comes from the sink area..I think that's where it happens but it makes the whole kitchen smell. It's not coming from inside the dishwasher I know that much. It seems to only have that smell when the first turns on for the dishwasher. I have tried pouring drano and bleach down the drains , tried to clean out the air trap thing on top of the sink and just can't figure it out. Any advice? Thanks

Thanks. I never even heard of that!
I don't think it's that though since I never smelled it in the dishwasher when the hot water is running..just in the kitchen /sink area..also don't smell it when I just run hot water in the sink. It's been a mystery that's driving me crazy!

well, it is not a big job to change the anode rod on your water heater. getting the old one unscrewed is usually tough but once it is loose you just remove it and screw in a new one.
it is certainly a place to start to solve the mystery..
look on you-tube to get an idea about changing the anode rod..
