 removing my water softener.
Author: cmmason0524 (FL)

I live Florida and my water softener has stopped working. It is located in my pump house near my well head and pump and storage tank. I have decided to remove this and update the system within the house. My problem is I cannot figure out which lines need to be connected together so i can remove the pieces to the softener system. I know where the inline shutoff valve is located. What I am trying to figure out is it the line running into the ground that is running to the house? and if so can I just reconnect that line that is coming from the water storage tank that is located near the pump motor? I know these seem like things I should know but as lady with my first home O want to trya nd do as much as I cna myself.

The softener has an inlet and outlet. Disconnect the softener from these two pipes and then reconnect them.

He means disconnect and connect the inlet and outlet with a short piece of tubing or pipe.

Which may or may not have the most professional look to it. I'd probably come straight out of the tank and into the underground pipe. The softner was probably added at a later date, so it should be fairly easy to imagine what the piping arrangement looked like before the softner was there.
