 Star Powerflush system
Author: ncpianoman (NC)

I installed a Star S1101 power flush system some 8 or 10 years back in a basement bar that is seldom used. Recently, I used the sink in that area and heard the pump unit "buzzing" as it attempted to power on, and then the buzzing stopped without the pump ever cycling on. Later, the buzzing sound occurred again, and also ended without ever actually coming on to pump the water from the holding tank.
It appears to me that the internal float mechanism is functioning properly (trying to turn the unit on), but the actual pump just will not power up. It could be that the long period of time between uses of the pump may have allowed the contacts in the switch to corrode ? Is there anyone with a any experience with this problem, or a suggestion where to start with a possible repair ?
Thank you !

I'd venture a guess that the pump itself is frozen. If it's humming it's receiving power and probably thermally tripping.

Thank you for the answer. I suspected the same thing. I suppose I will have to dismantle the entire unit to replace the pump motor, since I can't now see the motor to attempt the "slap it with a hammer" method !

I have the same system in my house. It's doing the sane thing you described. Did you ever get the problem resolved? What was the issue?
