 Water Pressure Loss
Author: Jazper (IN)

Hi,
My house was built in around 1960. I just purchased this home last year. It's 1 1/2 baths. During my home inspection we ran all faucets for a couple hours with good pressure in May, it still was cool then. I live in Indiana and in the summer time I always have very bad water pressure (like none). I live off a main road and don't use more water in summer, nor do my neighbors have sprinklers or anything. When it gets cooler/colder the water pressure seems fine.

I have an unfinished basement.

Well X-Trol Tank (Model: WX-202)
Label says "Factory charged to 30 psi. Tank precharge pressure must always be the same as the pump cut-in pressure.

My pump next to the tank is:
GE Motors 1/2 HP Pump (Model: 5KC39HN2701BX)
The pressure switch didn't have any corrosion on it and looked in good condition.

When I turn off the valve next to the tank to close off water to the house, the pump cycles on about every 12 minutes.

The tank pressure reading was about 26 psi. The gauge reading was 40/54.

So you have a well system. Water table will affect your system. 1/2hp is for shallow wells. Do your neighbors have the same issues during the summer, like you do?

An evaluation by a well/pump/water specialist might be in order based on the age of your system.

Best Wishes
