 Drip in tub
Author: GboroSR (NC)

We had a frequent drip from a tub spout and a plumber came out and replaced the spout. Since the repair there is not a steady drip but every minute or so several drips fall out of the spout in rapid fire fashion. We have not used the tub in a few days but the occasional rapid fire drip continues. The plumber came back out and said there is not a leak but perhaps residual water making its way out of the pipe. However, when I deal the drain we get about 8 ounces of water in the tub after about 12 hours. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Do you have a single handle mixer or single valves for hot and cold?

Yes. GET A DIFFERENT PLUMBER. you do NOT change the spout when the faucet drips. Residual water drains out fairly rapidly and stops. It does NOT continue for days after using the faucet.

Single handle

With a single handle mixer, consider replacing the cartridge or ball to stop the dripping. A licensed plumber would have known that.....

It's kinda sad that someone would replace a spout to try to stop a drip. It probably needs new seats and springs if it's a Delta, or a cartridge if another brand.
