If I installed the Delta valve housing for a series 1300 shower and tub valve upside down inadvertently and we have already closed everything in, is there any way to fix this without ripping the wall out? The main problem is when the plunger is down and water is only supposed to come out of the tub faucet, as the valve is turned to the warmer setting, the water begins to come out of the shower head and the tub faucet at the same time.

What type of pipe did you use from the faucet to the spout ?

It makes no difference. If the valve is upside down water will ALWAYS flow from the shower head when the valve is turned on.

I think NC Plumber is implying that the valve may not be upside down as the homeowner thinks, it may be a matter of too small of a tub spout pipe.
