black flakes coming out of dormant hose
Author: denno (NY)

Greetings
Got Walmart-bought flexogen or whatever hoses, leave them out in the winter. (Only one spigot on the place, have to run water out to the dog kennels.)
Last year in the spring, and somewhat more this year, black flakes are coming out of the hose. Eventually runs clear. I'm assuming some kind of lining is deteriorating.
This is well water, good stuff, doesn't taste of minerals, out in the country and up 2000 feet.

Any problem with the flakes? Change to all-rubber hose? Any health hazards in drinking a hose a little at a time?

TIA
denno

The hose is warrantied. Take it back and get a new one. This way, you will be safe for still another year.

Best Wishes
