 Shower/Tub spout
Author: Bbraun (NY)

I just had a new bathroom reno done and we installed a new tub along with Premier brand 120067 Torino fixtures. The tub spout doesn't stay when pulled up to activate shower. Could it be defective? Very frustrating - we thought it was the new shower head and replaced it with the old one and now the tub spout isn't working . . very frustrated. Any suggestions? Could it be that it wasn't installed properly?

Thanks!

Unless it's somehow fouled with debris, I would say the spout is defective.

remove it for closer inspection. it either screws on or is held with an allen screw.
if it is an allen screw, lather it up with silicone grease before putting it back.

Thanks, I can try that . . I assume I don't need a plumber and can do it myself?

Is it possible the contractor installed it improperly, as the pull up knob just slides back down?

Thanks!! I'm soooo frustrated!

I've tried with and without turning the water on and it just slides back down and doesn't stay up.

Replace the diverter spout

it sounds like that's what it is and it angers me that for almost $200 for shower fixtures that the diverter doesn't work is very maddening. Is that something I can do myself or do I need a plumber?

My husband took off the spout and we're heading to Home Depot shortly to get another spout w/diverter . . let's hope that does the trick! Thanks for your help!

Well that didn't help, but after talking with a general contractor at Home Depot, he told us it sounded like our water pressure. So, we're looking into having a plumber take a look next . . the saga continues!

Your husband installed a new spout and it still doesn't stop the water?

The diverter still didn't engage. After talking with a contractor at Home Depot he said it sounds like our water pressure is too low to keep the diverter engaged to switch it to shower.
