Heat not coming up on second floor of 3 story house
Author: Annemichelle (NY)

I don't know anything about plumbing. This is the 3rd time in the last couple of years this happened. I remember the plumber attached a hose to a thing on the boiler and turned in the faucet There's 2 zones I had it running for over an hour and the heat started working. Hot water starting coming out. As soon as I turned it off heat stopped working. I tried it twice. Please help. I can't afford to pay the plumber. Is there a simple fix? It's a gas boiler. Thanks.

There is a combination pressure/temperature gauge on the boiler. What is the pressure reading?

What the plumber was doing, in the past, was purging air from the system. Go to YouTube and search for "Purging air from a heating system". Watch some videos on different approaches. If you can't figure out how to apply it to your system, safely, you may need to call a plumber. We are flying blind, as every system is different.

the heat was not working. what you did was pull hot water out of the boiler, thru the zone of heat and out the end of the hose. that gave the appearence that it was working.
something else is wrong..
