No hot water from bathtub faucet
Author: Boilerfrustration (NJ)

I recently had a technician come in and fix an issue with my hot water boiler (boiler controls both hot water and heat). The pilot light kept going out on the boiler several times after my gas company changed the meters outside and was required to come in and re-light the pilot light on boiler/appliances. Since June, I've had to call the technician back several times because the pilot light keeps going out every 4 - 6 weeks. With this last visit 12/2/15, the technician re-lit the pilot light on the boiler. By the time he went out to the truck to get the paper work and come back, the pilot light had gone out again. He did some more adjusting, re-lit the pilot light. I asked him what did he do this time, he said he adjusted the pressure (???). Now the pilot light is still on (for now), I have hot water in my kitchen and bathroom sink faucets. However, for some reason there is no hot water coming from the bathtub faucet. Initially after this last visit, I'd turn on the hot water in the bathtub and the water would come out hot then quickly turn warm then cold while I'm taking a shower. Now it just stays cold when I turn the water on. Do you think he adjusted the pressure to the hot water and it's affecting the bathtub hot water? I can't understand why I have hot water in the bathroom sink, kitchen sink but not the bathtub. It also takes a little bit for the hot water to get really hot. It's mostly warm-hot. Please advise; I'd like to call them back and know what to expect so that I'm not being taken advantage of. The technician has already replaced the thermal coupling and said that I do not need a new boiler, it still has a few more years so that's not an issue.

So frustrated.

The pilot issue and the hot water production at your tub are totally unrelated. Does the boiler have a tankless coil (seems from your description that it does) or is there an indirect tank?

Depending on the make and model of the faucet, you could also have a malfunctioning balancing spool in it.

@ m & m (MD): I have no idea whether my boiler has a tankless coil, I don't know what that means. They don't have the option to attach a picture in this thread. But it's a Burnham Boiler/Water Heater.

Above your posting there are a series of "options". The last one is "how to show images".
