 Frozen shower drain
Author: Christopher (IL)

I have an addition to my house that was built on a slab. For the past two years (I moved in 3 years ago), the drain in my rarely-used shower in the addition freezes when we have a spell of below zero weather. I am able to thaw it with a number of treatments of salty hot water but I am wondering if there is something I can do to prevent this from happening again this year?

1. You use RV antifreeze
2. HOw are pets going to drink water from the shower drain which is at least 6" below the floor, unless your pets are snakes or lizards, and even then there should be a slotted cover over the opening?

RV antifreeze can be used in potable water systems.
