Well, I had the roots snaked/chewed out of my sewer line, then pinpointed the location where roots had invaded.
It's only about three feet deep.
To save the $4000 that I don't have anyway, can't I just excavate that section, carefully cut a piece out with reciprocating saw, slip in a fresh section of PVC, and seal it with rubber couplings like "Fernco Strong Back RC Couplings"? Without the rubber couplings, it's just about impossible to replace a short section of PVC underground, right?

Author: KCRoto (MO) If the existing line is Clay, you can rent soil pipe cutters at most rental centers if you ask for them.

Author: packy (MA) the regular all rubber fernco's are legal to use and cheaper. no stainless sheild required outside the building.
