it is for cast iron but not for plastic. mass code, others may vary..

reason I ask, I just buried about 8' of pvc sewer with a bed of pea gravel.... did I just make a grave mistake?

Sand 1st and then if you want to add pea gravel. The grave part was funny.

it is strange.. but, my plumbing code calls for fine sand 6 inches in all directions of the pipe. 10 feet outside the foundation wall the plumbing code ends and a sewer contractor takes over. their code calls for crushed stone or pea gravel around the pipe. same pipe, same trench but different requirements.
