Acrylic Soak Tub/Shower Flange not Sloped to Drain into Tub
Author: Shiseiji (VA)

I've just had a drop in tub set on a deck installed. The flange is to the wall at the foot and the back wall under a waterproof membrane, to be covered with Corian. There is ~ 4" of inches of tile between the tub head and (left) wall.

To get started on 2nd bath, installer said to use new master bath as water proofing is complete, as well as the flooring and tile as an apron. After less than a minute of showering, water is draining onto the floor.

Is it reasonable to expect the flange be shimmed on the stringer to account for the manufactures +/- 1/4" variance and sloped to drain into the tub? It's not even weight bearing.

The foot and rear flanges slope to wall. The back flange also slopes to head of tub and from there it continues the around the head to the floor.

Hate to think of hanging a shower curtain across the Corian. Hate more that I didn't know anything about needing to consider this as a potential problem.

TIA

Ron

sounds like you have tried to build in a tub that was meant to set ontop of a platform.
as a general rule, tubs meant for alcove installation take into consideration the water that will be splashed onto the edges.
tubs that sit on a platform are not designed for showering.
also, you just don't butt that style tub up against a wall, install cement board and tile/corian. they need a tiling flange against the wall.
note that the tub deck slopes back into the tub
