Pipes too close to the wall to fit skirting
Author: beccajeff123 (NY)

Hi there,

I am having a new bathroom put in. It is going to have a semi freestanding bath (sealed on two sides to enable you to have a shower without water going down the sides), a freshly stripped and sealed pine floor finished with tiles on two walls and skirting on all walls. The floor has been taken up and sanded to ensure that you can't see any cuts.

There have been numerous problems, the latest was that the plasterer didn't make the wall where the bath is to be sealed square. The plumber did what he could, the plasterer came back and re-boarded and skimmed the wall that was out. Previously the plumber had allowed space for the skirting boards but now there isn't space as the wall has effectively moved a good 3 cm. I've tried using a wood file to make the hole where the pipes come from bigger but it wouldn't make any difference as you would need to adjust the length of the pipes to allow enough movement for the skirting board. Other than cutting through the floor to get access to the pipes, adjusting them and putting the floor back down is there anything else I can do?

Thanks
Rebecca.

Cannot answer because I have absolutely no idea what you are describing.

I don't quite follow either.

My guess is the "skirting" she referred to are baseboards and she was saying pipes are in the way of installing baseboards.

A pic would really help.
