 runny flux question
Author: gmum (IL)

Do you think it would be normal for flux to run down the inside of a vertical, freshly soldered pipe that had never had water running thru it?

If someone was heavy handed on the female fittings, yes.

what do you mean by that?

Like too much flux on the fittings?

yes. when your tub of flux is warm, it can get a big glob on the end of the brush, then drop the glob on an inside fitting. When you put the pipe and fitting together, it no longer has anywhere to go but down the pipe. When you flush the system out and pressurize it, it will work its way out in the next few days with usage. If this is a project and doesn't have water flow at all, the flux will sit there and corrode the pipe.
