Clay deposits clogging sump pump line
Author: Len49 (IL)

When they excavated for our house, they hit an underground spring! Due to that, we have a drainage system and two sump pumps that go off frequently. We had no problems for four years, but recently the one pump was not draining the pit. We took it apart and found that the pipes were almost entirely clogged with clay. We have replaced them and cleaned out others, but would like to prevent the build up in the future. Are there any products out there that would dissolve the clay sediment in ten pipes?

no

you will need to be 'proactive' on a rotating basis for the 10 pipes

In order to be proactive, what would you suggest? Periodic disassembling and cleaning or is there a product we could use to flush the clay out?

disassembly and cleaning, high pressure water jetting of the foundation drains, cleaning the clay out of the bottom of the pit and keeping the pump off of the bottom of the pit are the only real steps you can take at this point.
