Peru jungle home's supply line size
Author: vvbrock (GA)

Hi. I live in Pucallpa Peru and am developing a camp with various small missionary homes. We have a 150 foot well with a 1/2HP submerged pump with static water level at 15ft. We have never run out of water even with running a 1" line for 5 days non-stop to fill a pool. I suppose its one of the advantages to living in the rain forest. My house is about 50 feet from the well and fed with a 1 inch PVC line. It seems to do really well in keeping us with adequate pressure. I have designed our housing area for future homes further back on the property and am ready to run water to the first of these homes. I have ordered an 80 galllon pressure tank with bladder to go in the well house. My question is about pipe size. I plan on having three or four houses in this area and want to make sure they have adequate pressure. The distance to the first house from the well is 360 feet. What size PVC pipe will I need to put in? None of the houses will be full size US homes, but I want to make sure we do not lack in pressure or volume. We have looked into having elevated tank in a few locations, but I was hoping that a pressure system would be able to handle the load. Can anyone advise me?

What kind of demand do you have for each house?

I'd run a 1 1/2" main from the pressure tank and branch off it with a 1" pipe for each home.
