What a mess! smh. Anyway, build date of the house is 1978. I want to get rid of the elkhorn in the attach foto. I want to use a washer box. Currently using this drain is washer, a water softener, and 2 sinks. Youll see in the foto behgind the elkhorn a vertical pipe. This is for double bath lavs upstairs and nothing else. This elkhorn is atched to that vertical pipe. All this pipe is 1-1/2 inch. It goes into a 3" via a reducer at the bottom of the wall. The idea I have in mind is to upgrade to a 3" pope, reduced to 2" for the washer box set at 43" from the floor, and 45 around the washer box to a Y (wye) for the upstairs sinks.

In addition Im planning on building a surface mount drain line for the water softener, a whole home filter, and tankless piddle drain to drain into a standpipe on the other side of the room. Im thinking 1-1/2 inch line, since each device has a 1/2 inch drain and the softener and filter are set to regen at opposing times. Ill be using san T's on their side for the softener and filter to hook into the line.

Will all of this work? Or what other solutions are there?

Where is all the protection from backflow....like a p-trap? Love those flexible pipes. I'd bring in a licensed plumber to quote a repair and ask him all of your direct questions, based on local plumbing codes.

Ya even the house inspector was like WTF? I certainly had no idea it was all 1.5" pipe in there. Im remodeling the downstairs bath and the upstairs tub is on 1.5" too. But strangely it connects to a 2" pipe at the floor with a reducer. I thought tubs had to be 2" and shower-only could be 1.5" Im always amazed at the strange things people do and somehow it works, but its for code its a strike.

In NC, tubs can be 1 1/2" and showers have to be 2".
