We have been having problems with the sewer line backing up in the basement. We get it snaked and they say we have a root problem but the backups are happening a week after snaking. Yesterday it backed up after doing laundry. Our washing machine outlet goes directly to the drain. I apologize for not knowing all the terms and I hope I have described this correctly.

It sounds like the main was never cleaned properly. I hope you got a guarantee with your service.

No warranty with snaking I have to pay $200 a pop for them to snake even if it's a week later.

Have you considered having your sewer line inspected with a sewer camera. A camera run will reveal most anything and everything, including root invasion, valleys and defects.
Use a licensed, bonded professional.
Best Wishes

You need a new drain cleaning service, one that guarantees their work. Don't settle for less than 30 days at a minimum unless they can prove with a video inspection that the pipe is too damaged to warranty. I used to warranty main lines for 6 months, and branch lines for 90 days on residential drains.
