 Moen shower with hand shower
Author: Ed B (MD)

We remodeled our bathroom several years age. The shower does not seem to be receiving water, nor does the hand shower portion.Everything has worked fine up to now. The toilet and sink are both working . I can not find any separate valves for this shower. Could a cold winter have affected the shower only? We did not use this shower over the winter.
Thanks for your help.

When water does not flow, floating debris in the water begins to settle and attach to pipes, supplies and valves. Much has to do with the quality of your waters. You may not see that in your toilet and some faucets used daily, as the floating debris passes quickly.

Time to service that shower valve or have it professionally serviced.
Best Wishes

A frozen hot or cold water line would shut off all water to the valve, but if that were the cause, it should have thawed by now. You probably need a plumber to check the valve, since there are other possibilities also, depending on WHICH Moen valve you have.

Is the hand shower an add on diverter on the arm coming out of the wall that the shower head attaches to? If it is, unscrew the diverter from the arm and turn on the water and see if you have flow again.

Take the hand shower assembly apart and check for obstructions....while the shower head assembly is off, turn on the water....flow? No? Sounds like the shower valve needs service for whatever reason.
