I love the pretty pictures in those "How-To" books. I work in the service field, and alot of jobs I come across I can pretty much throw the book out the window. Here's an example of "How NOT To rewire your DIY Kitchen. Had a call for a dishwasher that would light up, but trip the breaker when started. Found this little puppy in the back of a half-cabinet covered up with baking pans. The H/O decided to put a 3 prong outlet on a 2 wire supply cable with no ground, in a metal outlet box and left it "crooked" in the box. The dishwasher was fed by a loop from this outlet. I was reading 50 volts from the dishwasher neutural to the kitchen sink (ground). The icing on the cake was, they looped off this cable to connect a countertop GFCI (with no ground) next to the sink. Yikes!
