 Fluidmaster Flush & Sparkle Kit
Author: BigReg1500 (CT)

Hi
Does anyone here have experience with or opinions about the Fluidmaster Flush & SParkle flush tube bowl cleaner? Seems like a good idea, putting the bleach into the bowl but without something hanging off the rim of the bowl. Shouldn't degrade the flappers or gaskets.

I'm wondering if it's just a new gadget, or really worth it before I bother buying 4 for my house.

Thanks

They are so-so. Nothing groundbreaking but they do seem to work a bit.
I installed them in my home, simply because the sales rep gave them to me to try.

they still attack the tank to bowl (or the flush seal in a one piece) from the INSIDE of the gasket - for want of better terminology

know from personal experience with an older Briggs AND a Kohler Santa Rosa

I have my natural doubts as well. Read the warranty very carefully and if you intend on using the product, save the warranty in your home safe. You want to make sure that when something goes wrong you want to be sure the manufacturer will provide you with OEM replacement parts that degrade with use.

Best Wishes

I used them for 8 years or so at my old house without any problems at all. When I moved to a house with a septic tank, I changed to a septic version, but it caused bacterial growth on the sides of the bowl, so I stopped using it and just didn't refill the cartridges anymore. Personally, I don't mind them at all; I don't use them now because of small children that could get into it. edit- I didn't use the bleach version, just the normal cleaner and the bio versions.

Would you prefer that they were labled, "Approved by Ralph Nader and Al Gore"?

Don't necessarily need them to warm the globe, but the seat would be nice. smiling smiley

I'm on septic and I still use bleach to clean the bowl as well as the tub/shower etc. I pump annually so I'm not as worried about the bacteria being killed off especially with a small amount of bleach relative to a 1000 gallon tank.
I've read that you can refill the canisters with spa bleach tabs to save $. Guess I'll give them a shot. Since we're on a well, even with treated water, it's a constant battle to keep the ring out of the toilet bowl (or maybe it's because we have 2 small kids....)
