Bathtub slow drain then flush now bth tub is backed up and toilet leaks
Author: BradsApartment (TN)

i live in a small apartment. Weeks ago my kitchen sinks backed & my bath tub. I got a big bottle of liquid plumber and it seemed to work. since then my kitched sink backed up but not bad. My bathtub is still slow but much faster than it had been before the liquid plumber solution. Last night I took a shower and the water was draining at its usual slow speed. I was drying off and a minute or so had gone by and nearly all the water had drained. I lean out of my shower to flush the toilet (solid waste). As I was finishing drying off I notice my tub was backing up with a brownish water. Not only that but clear water began leaking out of the bottom of my toilet. My toilet bowl is still not full.

Do I need replace anything? SHould I snake it and if so how to go about doing it? Do i snake the tub? toilet? kitchen sink? I have a water drain access point right out side of my apt. DO i send snake towards sewer line and toward bathroom? one or the other? both? if so which one first? My tub has a fixed hair catcher in it or whatever that is called.

Your first step is to contact you apartment manager or owner and notify them. Limit water usage until the main sewer line is cleared.

You said it is an apartment, in which case YOU don't do anything except notify the manager that the main line is obstructed.

Besides clearing the mainline sure wouldn't hurt to run a cable down tub drain and kitchen sink drain.
