moen trim - positemp trim on older standard valve?
Author: Mjlutz2005 (FL)

I kept me old "standard" moen valve with screw holes at 5 & 7 o'clock. my new trim is Positemp. will this work? I've read there is an adapter for moentrol to standard, but will this same adapter work for positemp trim to standard valve?

Plumber recommended saving old standard valve as the cartridge had just been replaced and he install a new positemp style diverter for an added-on rain head, in addition to the normal shower head.

So I have two styles of valves: standard for on/off & temp. Control and a positemp valve to divert from shower head to rain head.

suggestions??????

or do I need to return the Positemp trim for my on/off valve and get the moentrol version for an on/off plus the adapter?

Besides the screw holes being different, the center hole for the PosiTemp sleeve is large than the Chateau sleeve.

I do not have one now, but probably will in a couple of days. In the back of my trade magazines they advertise the converter from 5 & 7 to 2 & 7.

correct, I did notice the diameter was different. I guess the positemp trim needs to be exchanged for the moentrol trim, and purchase the adapter...
