 Med gas oxygen demo
Author: jklsr55 (MT)

I am running a large remodel and have to demo and cap one med gas Oxygen outlet. I was certified for years but let it lapse as I never used it. What is the proper procedure to preform this little project. And please spare me all the sanctimonious "get a licensed installer" bilge. I get the fact that I'm skirting the rules. I just want to do it and be safe. If I just braze a cap on the end will I be ok? Suggestions?

Being suitable for oxygen, does not always mean it is suitable for "medical grade" oxygen.

after oxygen is CONFIRMED tight shut-down

insert a 1/4" plastic tube as far as you can after your 'cut' and purge line with nitrogen before BRAZING the cap with 15% silver alloy

HJ is right, pro press is not allowed for med gas applications. The reason is bacteria can form around the O-ring. You must purge & braze.
