Our pet Hampster some how escaped his cage and we believe he crawled into the floor drain in our five year old houses second floor laundry room floor drain. My husband has tried to figure out where the drain ends. He has looked in the injector pit and sump pump pit. There is also a pipe coming out of the house near the air conditioner. We can't figure out where the pipe ends. If the Hampster is still inside or needed up at the end we just don't know and would really like some advice on what to do. Thank you

Generally speaking, rodents won't go into trapped drains because they won't go through the water. If you want to find it, use food to lure it out; if you don't.. flush the drains with plenty of water to make sure it doesn't stay in there long. (if it is indeed in the drain) I would find it more likely that it got into a cozy spot where it can chew anything and everything to build a nice nest (wiring, paper, clothes)

I agree with KC; the little rascal did not attempt underwater diving into a cramped p-trap. Since this occured in the laundry room, I'd bet money it set up house inside the clothes dryer. We had a little house mouse that did that. Good hunting.

Be very careful putting shoes on. We had a friend that lost one like that. They will crawl into slippers and shoes.

Our lost hamster made a home inside (under) the metal wash machine cabinet. He raided the dog's dish and had plenty of dried dog food stored. He was "ratted out" by the crumb trail that he left.
