I am building an outdoor open sided cabana in southern Calif with propane fireplace. I was planning on picking up the propane supply from the outdoor BQ with is about 50 ft away. The BQ is supplied propane through a buried (18'-24" deep) 1/2"copper tube with yellow plastic coating, and then transitions to a plastic coated 1/2" steel riser prior to going through the slab.

The question I have is can I use the same type of plastic coated copper tubing to run propane to the fireplace and transition to a steel riser prior to exiting the ground? What type of connections do I need to use on the fittings where the tubing will connect to the other copper tubing and transition to the steel riser to ensure I am meeting California (San Diego) building codes.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

YOu are completely not capable of doing this, nor should you be able to get the materials you need since they are normally only sold to registered contractors who have learned how to work with them.

Retail- Big Box Stores here will sell you anything... even poison. But as suggested, this is not a job for a "DIY'er" by any means. Gas Explodes and can be dangerous to others.
This is a job for a licensed, bonded, and certified installer. Check with your home owner's insurance agent if you don't believe us.
