Sump Discharge - how many turns can there be?
Author: km218 (IL)

Thank you for any information!

I want to move my sump pump discharge off my main sewer line and have it
discharge out the back of the house. It's grey water so the hose can run along
the back of the house and out to the drainage along the property line where
the other sump pump discharges to. It's from ground water and my washing machine.
No other water goes into that sump pump. Currently it's dumping into my septic
and it's too much water, especially with all the rain we are having.

This means moving the discharge pipe and there is no way to put it straight
up and out of the house. It's a 1-1/2" white PVC pipe. It would have to
include (3) 90 degree turns Is that ok? or is that too many turns to get
the water out of the house?

ALSO: How do I cap off the old pipe? It's metal.

3 90's is not too much. use long sweep 90's for less resistance.
a rubber test cap will cap your old metal pipe. it is a simple slide on rubber cap that secures with a hose clamp.
