Can't remove old Price Pfister sink faucet
Author: coblem (CA)

I am trying to remove and replace an old (circa 2000) Price Pfister sink faucet in my bathroom. I have 4 of these faucets and I can't figure out how to uninstall them from the base of the sink.

Below is a photo of the least corroded connections. The base of the faucet handle has a threaded post, but lacks a bolt, but instead has a strange bracket. Note that the bracket has also has a vertical piece that trends parallel to the threads, but does not appear to be threaded (but is corroded onto the threads). I assume the metal clip and white plastic piece is associated with the water line, and have not yet tried to remove it. On the left-most side of the picture is connection into the base of the faucet. There is a similar bracket, a threaded post, and the pipe for the waterline (sorry its a little cropped). Again, the threaded post has no bolt. I don't think I can turn the bracket because the the post and hose wouldn't permit it.

I did figure out how to take the top off the handle to expose a screw. I can take off the screw to expose the valve portion of the handle (which I have not done) and can potentially loosen the bracket, but the faucet doesn't have such a screw so I still will have to go at the faucet from the base.

If you have any experience with this type of old faucet, I would appreciate your advice.
Thanks!!

YOU pull those clips and remove the plastic fitting from the valve. Then you remove ALL the stuff on top of the sink. The valve will have 4 flats on it. You rotate the entire valve counder clockwise using those flats and a Crescent wrench. Eventually, you will reach a spot where that "toggle" on the bottom will lay against the valve and you pull it up out of the sink. The spout is removed by inserting an Allen wrench down the lift rod hole and rotating CCW also.

In my opinion that style was the easiest and quickest widespread faucets to install ever designed.Loved that design and of course Price Phister stopped making it.
