 Catch Basin connections
Author: BigReg1500 (CT)

I'm trying to rig up a drainage catch basin to use as a pump/filter box for a water garden/fish pond we have.

Pump will go inside the basin, filter material and media will be inside, and water will feed in through the top grate. That's all fine and straight forward.
What I need is a way to transition from the S&D connections that come with the basin to DWV pipe so that I can bring a riser up and make some sort of a skimmer to clean the water surface.

I'm just looking at this NDS basin [www.homedepot.com]. My pump is fairly tall - kind of like a sump pump, which is why I need this large box.

But I can't for the life of me figure out how to transition to DWV pipe from these connectors. I don't need to cement it together, just pressure fit tight enough to allow for a decent suction.

Can someone tell me what I'm missing or if it's even possibl to transition from S&D to DWV?

My local Home Depot and Lowes have transition couplings for PVC to S&D.

A short piece of SDR pipe with a SDR to ABS/PVC bushing on it will make the transition.
