Delta shower faucet: Sleeve too short... what do I do?
Author: hydrocynus (FL)

Hello all,

Thank you again for all the help. This is the most useful forum. Well, I have installed a bathtub and the new Delta faucet. I drilled two nice holes to fit the faucet and the spouts and all went relatively well. When I installed the plated escutcheon, and put over the sleeve, I found out that is was too short, the escutcheon screws were also very long since they hit the wall.

I thus had to remove the surround and here am I now. Do I need to break the concrete wall and have the housing that control the water sit well recessed? I then will have to use elbows to connect to the spout and the shower head pipe. Looks complicated, although not impossible.

Thank you for your help. Hopefully, there are sleeves that one can cut to fit.

Cheers!
Hydro

Good morning. the distance from the wall to the surround is 2.5". I basically need an additional inch to cover the assembly completely. I am about to make a recessed cavity. Got all the parts already and the demolition hammer ready to go... but I will wait until late in the morning to do anything (Eastern time, Fl. here).

Cheers to all.

Your description is somewhat ambiguous, but I assume you mean the faucet is sticking out too far. If so, there is NOTHING that will work except to move the valve back to the proper distance from the surface.

Thank you for your help. I got it to work by making a recessed hole in the wall.

Best.

I would be interested in knowing what that means and how you made a recess in the wall.
