I am having a hard time locating the best place to vent my new horizontally vented hot water heater. The most plausible idea I had was to punch it through my side wall of my basement and then run it horizontally through the rafters of my outside deck (about 15' max) and run it through a hole through the other side of the deck and vent there.
I know you can't vent it directly under the deck, but the Rheem hot water heater install guide has no documentation on this kind of venting. I am hoping there is someone who is a little more experienced than me to provide some guidance. thanks in advance.

As long as you abide by the venting instructions with the heater and maintain maximum runs (or equivalents) you are okay with thru the deck venting.

if you want to inhale fumes from the water heater exhaust as you sit out on your deck, go for it...
