stopped up drain - sulfuric acid
Author: ciu7628 (IL)

We moved into an older house and have drain issues from our kitchen sink at least once a month. We do not put anything down the drain but water and other liquids such as juice & milk. The land lords people have come out before and said they couldn't find anything in the drain. This morning they came to fix thr clog and poured in kleen out sulfuric acid to solve the problem. Bad news it didnt work. There is still water standing so we are at a loss. I dont know how to neutralize it and do not want to harm anyone with any remaining caise that might be around my kitchen sink. How do I neutralize/ make it go down the drain?

you neutralize it by calling the fools who poured sulfuric acid into standing water and tell them to remove it.

I agree with packy. I know a plumber who had gone to clean a drain homeowner didn't tell him they poured acid down the drain. He got 3rd degree burns up his hand and arm. Homeowner was brought to suit and had to pay hundreds of thousands.

As a RENTER, you have few options. The person who owns the property and their agents are fully responsible. Sulfuric Acid, is a very dangerous product. The residual fumes, can be just as dangerous and destructive to those who are forced to live in the environment. Call the person who poured the liquid and ask them to remove and flush the acid. I'm sure the local health dept, would have something to say about this.
If there are children involved in living in the building, it is very important.
Best Wishes

IT is NOT your problem, it is the landlords. There is nothing you can do to make it "go down the drain", and if it is strong enough, which is unlikely, it could damage the sink and drain assemblies.
