Author: hue (CA)

i`m building a patio in my back yard,my gas service runs through my proposed slab, when i obtained my permit from the city i asked about the gas line.it comes out of the ground with a flex tube and goes back into the ground and through the block foundation.i was told to box around it 16'x 16.i called for footing inspection, and upon inspection was told i have to vent my gas line from the stub out to beyond my slab.with a 3' pvc pipe.i understand why.i just don`t understand how.

Is it possible to re-route the gas line around the patio so you won't need to vent it?

Here, and according to many codes, it would have to be inside a larger "sealed at both ends" PVC pipe. At the outside end there would be a tee and a 8' riser with an inverted "U" on the top. When installed the "sleeve" and the gas line would each have to be separately pressure tested to insure their integrity.
