 No water flowing from faucet
Author: gridenour (CO)

About 30 minutes after washing dishes in the kitchen sink last night, i went to get a glass of water and no water came out of the faucet (hot or cold). I checked all the faucets in the house and outside and they all worked fine. Why is there no water coming from my kitchen faucet?

blocked aerator? Is it a single handle or double? Pull out spray on side or at main spout?

It is a double handle, there is a sprayer but it has never worked.

Never worked? Even when it was new? The water tries to go to the hand sprayer first. When the sprayer is not used the pressure is builtup and diverts itself to the path of least resistance, which is the spout. If you have always had problems, maybe it is time to get a new faucet.

The tip of the faucet is the first check. aerator. If the faucet has aside sprayer.that is with the flow on checked next.If sprayer does have water then divertor lock is repairable.

OK, went home yesterday and checked the faucet again. Now the sprayer is working for the first time but still no water through the faucet. checked the aerator and it's fine. What is a diverter lock?

The diverter assy is mounted under the faucet spout in the base. It modulates up and down by water pressure to divert water from the spout to the spray. It is/was stuck all this time due to mineral debris. To access the diverter, you have to remove the spout assembly.

Which brand and model of faucet do you have. This is important.

There is no such thing as a "diverter lock". If your diverter is not functioning, then it has to be replaced, (or removed if you do not mind water running from the spout at the same time you are using the spray hose). There are many different styles of diverters and they are located in many different locations depending on the faucet's make and model. If I had to guess I would suspect you have an old Moen faucet.

I think that Lemon was using the term 'diverter lock' as and adjective, not a noun. Describing a diverter locked in one position as opposed to a lock that is on a diverter.

Actually if GRID will tell me the name brand and type faucet I will tell him where to remove the locked out/stuck divertor!

Sorry if the use of terms is not understood.

My problem exactly

My faucet is a glacial bay pull down kitchen faucet with no side spray,
Model no. 67070-0101

I will be so grateful if you can tell me how to reroute the water to the tap. It flows out at the cartridge area when the assemblage is loosened or removed. I checked the aerator & it was clear . I replaced the cartridge but think now that was not the source of the problem .

Many thanks for your help.

I had the same problem. Replaced the cartridge and still nothing. Disconnected the pull-out hose from the water connection and found the problem. It was nothing more than a stuck check valve ball. Broke it free with a nail and water runs fine through the faucet.
