Merry Christmas everyone
My shower is leaking a steady stream from the shower head, went to plumbing supply store and they gave me the rite temp repair kit.
I replaced the cap sub assembly but not the pressure regulator.
Thought we did everything correctly but did not lubricate o rings. Leak is not fixed and now the shower handle will not turn...what did we do wrong???
Thank you!

most likely you didnt replace the correct part and you didnt put the parts you did replace back together properly.
there is no way for us to say exactly what you did wrong unless we were there in person

Thank you...yes, that is quite clear. I thought perhaps someone
would know here a reason why the handle won't turn now...

without knowing exactly what you did we do not know why it is not turning. it could be any number of reasons such as the parts not seated in the valve correctly or an old piece stuck in there binding the parts

Unless you changed the scald guard tab it should move maybe back wards but still.Remove the trim and try the valve with pliers.if the spine still will not move .Remove it from the brass again and check the spline again with it removed. The stop tab should be at the top when installed.that is the black part that sticks out on the control .www.kohlerfaucet.com search k304

those o-rings slip off very easily...veeeery easily!!!
so odds are they are off
you may have put the cartridge back together wrong...take apart and repeat.
when i take things apart i lay out a towel and place the parts in the order and direction they came out of the mixer/faucet
its easy to put something in backwards.

Thank you for the help so far.
I am trying to figure out how to add a picture to this post. I believe
I have the Early Pressure Balance Valve ½ Inch as the unit is all brass.
I am not sure what or where the scald guard tab is...I don't see it
anything like you describe.

you need to post the picture to a hosting site (preferably a free one) such as photobucket.com which is what i and many others here use

Ok, it was the bolt on the spline that was causing the handle not to turn...adjusted it up and the handle will turn, but stilling leaking from the head...just drips now not steady stream but still...

could be a piece of debris or a nick on an o-ring from the installation

ANY problem with the pressure balancer will cause a continual drip. In fact, cracked pressure balancers are the most common cause of Kohler faucet leaks that I have found.
