Hi, I just have a quick question. I'm taking an air conditioner course and they identified the copper used in them as "ACR" type copper. I'm just trying to find out what the ACR stands for - Thanks.
Regards,
Ron Donachie

We refer to it as Air conditioning/refrigeration tubing.

Also has its own spec on wall thickness, but not significantly different from the K,L,M family.
The differences you do need to be aware of"
1. ACR is always called out by actual Outside diameter. So 1/2" ACR is exactly 1/2" OD, whereas when we refer to K,L, or M we have a pipe or tube that is always 1/8" larger than callout size. 1/2 K,L,M is exactly 5/8" OD.
2. By definition and specification, type ACR tubing is supplied CLEAN on the inside and in rolls with the ends sealed with a plastic plug to maintain the cleanliness until ready for use.
