Hi,
OUr shower/bath isn't giving any more than a trickle of water and ChatGPT thinks its sediment. I'd like to have the replacement cartridge before plumber arrives, but have no idea how to identify what it is.
Also, do i need two cartridges for this system?
Any advice gratefully appreciated!

I believe the cartridge is a Kohler 1391992. I'm not seeing an actual color picture of that cartridge, but there's a reddit post that has what looks like your valve and the poster there provided an exploded parts view and stated they replaced their cartridge with the 1391992. Do you have picture(s) of the trim?

Steve, you are amazing. that's right!
I called Kohler and send them a picture of the valve and the very nice sales lady swore it wasn't Kohler.
But she did suggest take a picture of the faceplate and when I did that it came up, as a Kohler part. Home Depot "Contemporary Single-Handle 1-Spray Tub and Shower Faucet in Vibrant Brushed Nickel (Valve Included)"
If you ask Home Depot Q&A it gives exactly 1391991 as the replcement cartridge.
But home depot doesn't sell that cartridge alone. The Kohler webiste lists it for $390! but that seems to include the valave.
Any advice on where to get just the cartridge?
For now i've ordered an entire replacement faucet, knob, buttons (valve included), for $180, but it seems like it would be better to just get a $30 cartridge... I'm calling Kohler and will update if I have any info.
And while i"m benefitting from your kindness, do you happen to know if Kohler sells a Cartridge removal tool, perhaps I can do the switch mysefl? Or is this something that requires a plumber...

It's definitely Kohler. If you shut off the hot and cold water supply to this valve and unscrew the retainer nut, the cartridge will just pull out from the valve body. I'm seeing a few websites showing a limited supply at $47ish + shipping.
